Alcoholics Anonymous members do not hold themselves out as professional counsellors. However, some members have taken their experiences in achieving sobriety to higher professional levels outside of Alcoholics Anonymous.
It is professional skill and experience, not A.A. membership, which qualifies such people for professional positions.
